Write an image to the SD_Card  from a Linux computer

  1. Insert the micro-SD card in your regular computer.
  2. Run a Terminal and log in as root user
  3. Unzip the downloaded image
$ tar -zxvf -d <releasename>.tar.gz

List the partition tables, use fdisk to find.

$ fdisk -l
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System

/dev/mmcblk0p1 8192 122879 57344 c W95 FAT32 (LBA)

/dev/mmcblk0p2 122880 6399999 3138560 83 Linux

Umount SD-Card.

$ umount /dev/mmcblk0p1

$ umount /dev/mmcblk0p2

Write image to SD_Card. This process can take between 10 seconds and 20 minutes.

$ dd if=~/Downloads/<releasename>.img of=/dev/mmcblk0 bs=4096

Hi, should it necessary, use Linux engine to write image ? Could it be possible use a windows application to do it ?
